Well, I have a reasonable amount of work to get on with, but can't seem to actually do it! For the past 3 weeks I seem to have been sitting at my desk & achieving nothing. Both kids are now at Uni so there's no excuse.
I have managed to pick up 2 new clients this week - one from a local practice that has ceased to operate, and the other from a recommendation. I've also had an enquiry from a third possible client.
I really need to make progress as there is absolutely no hope of retiring for another 3 years at the earliest!!

Trying to get a lot of work done in the next few weeks. My lovely friend has been working hard and I now have a queue of jobs waiting to be finished. However, if both of us are to be kept busy then we need to take on more clients. They are few and far between at the moment.
Both kids are home, but my daughter is at work all day, so its rather quiet.
My office is now finished and I have my bookshelves and 2 lovely chairs to sit and read. Just need the kitchen finishing now. We're almost ready to put the floor tiles down at last!

Long week off!
As I don't work Fridays today is the start of my week off - except for a CPD course on Tuesday morning which I can't avoid.
My lovely daughter is home in the mornig. She just got her first year results for her Maths degree & has achieved a first so she is very happy indeed. After the first week home she has secured an office job for 8 weeks so won't be seeing much of her in the day.
Off to tidy up her room now :)

Back in the zone...
Apologies for not posting for so long! I've been a bit down & fed up, but I think I'm getting back in the zone.
Managed quite a bit of work last week, struggling to keep up with my assistant!
Hopefully the sun being out, and daughter home from Uni in a few days will cheer me up. I'm taking the week off next week as well.

Work still a bit slow ...
A slow start on the work front. I did manage to get 2 sets of limited accounts done for the end of this month. But not made much progress on anything else.
Problem is, daughter is home from Uni, so there are plenty of distractions and the need to give lifts to various places. Also have visitors coming on Thursday for a few days, and its Easter weekend, so unlikely to be much going on.
My new office is lovely and cosy, so much that I don't want to venture into the rest of the house, which is decidedly chilly due to the bitter Easterly wind which has been blowing all week. At least the snow has gone for now.

Moved at last!
A very exciting few days! The desks were moved on Wednesday, and the filing cabinets yesterday. Got my computer set up in place, and a lot of tidying stuff away still to do. Bookshelves will not be done for a few weeks as hubby is busy with work. The cheek of it!!
In the meantime I have to find somewhere to put all the client books.
Raring to go now! Let's hope for a productive few weeks.

Plastered!
My office that is, not me! All the walls plastered, and painted too. Got about half of the wood floor down on Sunday so may be moving up there this week. Very exciting!
Had a busy week with my son's 18th, painting, eating out, and Mothers Day. Not too much accountancy done unfortunately.
A busy week this week too - haircut today, off to Harlow Carr with a friend tomorrow, course about RTI on Thursday. And hopefully the office move on Wednesday/Thursday afternoon.
And my little girl is home from Uni on Saturday for a month. Brilliant!
And now it is snowing!

Back in the Land of the Living!
Well, after much procrastination , here I am again!
Had a busy few months with tax returns & general winter malaise, meaning no time or inclination to blog. Now the weather is brightening up a bit I'm starting to feel a bit more with it.
I managed to do all the tax returns except for 2. One of them still hasn't made an appearance. Going to have a push to get things moving along a little earlier this year.
Daughter is enjoying her first year at Uni, and son is visiting Unis at the moment in preparation for sitting A levels in the summer. It is going to be strange when neither of them are here.
The new office is hopefully getting plastered at the weekend so will be able to decorate & put the floor down, then not long before I can move out of the dining room. Can't wait!
